Future Funding Options



As concerned Citizens for Haw Creek, we feel that funding a project such as this by raising many small amounts of money from a large number of people is more favorable than investing huge amounts of time and resources in producing large events in hopes of generating financial interests in the venture. Below is a categorical breakdown of cost considerations for this endeavor. We hope you'll consider joining us in this community investment.


Source 1: Donations from Website

Designated for the development of website, expense of a first class hearing notice mailing to approx. 7900 property owners in the Haw Creek Watershed, other hearing related costs and necessary professional services.

Proposed Amount: $10,000

Source 2: Foundation and/or Corporate Grants

Designated for initial environmental assessment, preliminary drawings and preparation of state and federal grant applications by a qualified, unbiased engineering consultant or assistance from the civil engineering departments of Indiana University, Purdue University, or Rose-Hulman Institute of Technolgy as a senior design project.

Proposed Amount: $200,000

Source 3: State and Federal Grants

State - Sponsored by local State Representative, Senator, and endorsed by the Governor

Federal - FEMA Pre-Disaster Hazard Mitigation Program (requires a 25% match and FEMA may not be accepting new applications at this time)

Designated for conducting engineering studies and preparation of construction documents, cost of improvements, engineering supervision and construction inspection services.

Proposed Amount: $4,300,000
